Ball valves are simple and inexpensive valves that are quickly and easily operated. Good ball valves allow unrestricted flow when fully open.
Ball valves contain a ball with a hole through the centre. A lever turns the ball 90º to control flow.
General purpose use, preferably where flow is either fully on or fully off.
Avoid long straight upstream pipework which may suffer from water-hammer if a ball valve is shut off too quickly. A closed ball valve holds a small amount of fluid, so do not use with fluids that could solidify, freeze or deteriorate whilst contained inside the valve.
